She’s always been his best friend.
He’s always been hers.
She’s in love with him.
He’s … not in love with her.
He’s … marrying someone else.
He’s … hiding something.
He’s … well—it’s complicated.
First of all, something has to give. The past three books I have read have literally followed the same pattern. They all were full of angst and heartbreaking love. It makes me want to reevaluate my life, because for some reason I want to make my stomach tie up in knots and have a little ugly cry. In all honesty, I love it. I love it when a book makes me “feel”. You seriously feel the pain and struggle of the characters and that is amazing that words on a page can do that to you.
This book is about being madly in love with your best friend and he doesn’t seem to have a clue. Rose and Harley were next door neighbors. They grew up together, their families were best friends. So it wasn’t hard for Rose to fall for Harley.
The thing is, they grew up and he asked someone else to marry him. She was heartbroken, but journeyed on, until the day of the wedding. Everything goes wrong for Harley when his bride to be becomes a runaway bride when she doesn’t show up at the altar. Harley is left with a honeymoon in Hawaii for two, who does he ask to join him? Well his best friend of course.
Rose was a little weary about take the big trip to paradise. A trip that was suppose to be full of romance and couples massages and a part of her hoped it would get her out of the dreaded friend zone.
I have to tell you, I am a sucker for best friend love. Two of the last three books I have read have had best friend romances. There is just something about being friends with someone and then you realize that you are madly in love with them that makes my heart beat faster. It gives me a major case of the warm and fuzzies.
However!! Be aware that this book is not all warm and fuzzy! I don’t want to say too much because I don’t want to ruin the ending, but I will say this, it will make you laugh AND it will make you cry. HARD.
