Goodreads Summary: Emilia
They say love and hate are the same feelings experienced under different circumstances, and it’s true.
The man who comes to me in my dreams also haunts me in my nightmares.
He is a brilliant lawyer.
A skilled criminal.
A beautiful liar.
A bully and a savior, a monster and a lover.
Ten years ago, he made me run away from the small town where we lived. Now, he came for me in New York, and he isn’t leaving until he takes me with him.
She is a starving artist.
Pretty and evasive like cherry blossom.
Ten years ago, she barged into my life unannounced and turned everything upside down.
She paid the price.
Emilia LeBlanc is completely off-limits, my best friend’s ex-girlfriend. The woman who knows my darkest secret, and the daughter of the cheap Help we hired to take care of our estate.
That should deter me from chasing her, but it doesn’t.
So she hates me. Big fucking deal.
She better get used to me.
My Rating: 5 STARS!
First off, let me begin by saying this was my very first L. J. Shen and I devoured it.
Baron “Vicious” Spencer was an asshole. A complete utter asshole who treated Emilia like dirt. He called her “Help” because her family was the help for his family. They lived in an apartment that adjoined his mansion.
When Emilia “Millie” first met Vicious, they were both in high school and of course they were vastly different. Vicious is rich and the king of their high school as Millie is the daughter of servants.
Very soon after her parents start working for the Spencer family, she is asked to go to Vicious and talk to him, however what she found when she went looking for him starts a avalanche. She over heard him arguing with someone and he caught her outside of the door and from that point he hated her. He thought she knew something she didn’t.
He started calling her “Help” and being so mean. When he found out she was dating his best friend Dean, he was furious at the both of them. Eventually he comes up with a plan to get rid of her. And it worked. She left her family and their town and did not return.
Ten years later, Mille is living in the big apple with her little sister. She is trying to work two jobs and support the two of them. She is artist, just like Vicious knew she would be. One day, he shows up at the restaurant she is working at.
Ten years and Vicious can’t seem to get Millie out of his mind. When he sees her again, he offers to help her. He gives her a job and a safe place to live. He even sold a piece of his company in order to stay in New York.
You really want to have Vicious, but once you hear his story, you can’t help but to feel bad for him. You will love this story. And this is part of a series but it can be read as a stand alone. This is one of those stories that you have to read or you will be missing out for sure.
