Where have you been?

Today is December 30th 2017. Tomorrow is the very last day of the year and I haven’t posted in nearly 3 months. Why you ask?

Laziness added to depression. Working full time, trying to juggle my life with my family and how to survive in this world on nearly nothing.

I even took a break from reading. As of yesterday, I did manage to meet my goal of 200 books!

My New Year’s resolution is to work more and more on this blog. To do more reviews than ever and to proof read better! I am a horrible editor!

Thank you to my like 11 followers that are still hanging on!

Happy New Year!

Review: Where Good Girls Go to Die by Holly Renee

Genre: Contemporary

Published: April 13th 2017

Read: July 1st 2017 (In one sitting)

Kindle Unlimited: Yes

Goodreads | Amazon

Goodreads Summary: It was a bad idea from the beginning.

He was my brother’s best friend and the definition of unavailable.

But I didn’t care.

I had loved him for as long as I could remember.

He was worth the risk. He was worth everything.

But then he broke my heart as easily as I fell for him. He watched me fall, spiraling out of control, and as I reached for him, he wasn’t there to catch me.

So I ran.

Four years later, I never expected to see him again.

He was still my brother’s best friend, and he was more unavailable than ever.

He looked every bit the bad boy I knew he was, covered in tattoos and a crooked smile.

Guarding my heart from him was top priority because Parker James was where good girls go to die.

Unfortunately for him, I wasn’t a good girl anymore.

My Rating: 4 stars

This was a very quick book for me. I read it in about 2 hours or less. It was very easy to stay interested. I kept into it because I wanted to see what happen in the flashbacks. The beginning is gripping and hell it even made me cry.

Parker and his boys are in Atlanta for his bachelor party, and they go and do what all guys do…go to a strip club. Shortly after the girl comes in and starts her routine, when Mason, who is Parker’s best friend, recognizes the girl…it’s his sister!

Her and Parker have a deep history, obviously. She was in the middle of his lap dance, and he was trying to get her take off the mask, not realizing it was his Livy, until Mason starts freaking out.

Naturally, being the big brother he is, Mason demands Livy to put her clothes on and go back home to Tennessee with them and when she is fired from her job, she has no choice.

Livy is shocked to find out that Parker is the one getting married. When she buddy’s with Brandon, who is Parker’s other best friend, he hires her to work at his tattoo shop. The only thing she didn’t realize is, Parker is part owner and also an artist in the same shop, meaning they will be spending everyday together. Trying out a new thing calling being “just friends”.

It is a must read for me! The only reason I give it a 4 instead of a 5 is the ending. I wanted more! This is going to be a series, so maybe there will be a follow up book, I am not sure, but I am hoping that is the case.

Review: Stay Awhile by Gia Riley

Genre: Romance

Kindle Unlimited: Yes

Goodreads Summary: Life can change in the blink of an eye.

And every choice can unravel more of the truth.

One split second decision after a lifetime of lies has created a world so confusing, happily ever after isn’t guaranteed. Not even when the stars align and the pieces fit perfectly into the puzzle.

This time, I’ll have to fight for love with a vice clamping my heart and a gaping hole swallowing my soul—absence won’t make the heart grow fonder.

Lies and deceit.

Broken promises and disappointment.

I know them all too well.

So far, the pain has won.

But the pain doesn’t have to be permanent.

My Rating: 2.5 Stars….(It’s not for me)

You all know that I love angsty books. But, guys, this one was too much, even for me. I was praying for it to be over about 50% in. It’s like when you buy an old house and the say “The bones are good, but the rest is crap.” that is this book. I hate to be that mean but its truth.

Now, it may be different for you than it was me, so don’t miss it if you think it peaks your interest. Here is the story. Basically, Megan and Conner Campbell were high school sweethearts, married with a sweet little girl. Megan is away for a week and she comes home to find a stranger sitting in her kitchen, talking of her cell phone. Obviously, the woman is there for Conner, but he is no where to be found and neither is Laney. Megan calls around and finds out both Conner and Laney were brought into the ER, they had been in a car accident.

Their daughter was injured and needed surgery on her legs and Megan’s best friend from high school, Dr. Garrett Kristoff is in charge of little Laney’s care. Garrett had always had a crush on Megan, honestly it seemed a tad stalkerish, but that’s just my opinion.

Here is what I wasn’t fond of with this read. Megan hops right into bed with Garrett. I know they were friends prior, but if it was me and I just discovered my whole life had been a lie, I think I would want time to mourn.

Garrett is so needy! He was always asking Megan if she needed him. Good Lord! And his sex bucket list he left her in the notebook. What in the holy hell was THAT?

I just wanted it to end. Like I said the bones were there, the filler was not needed. It was suspenseful, with the whole deal with Conner, but the crap with Garrett and Megan could have been a lot better. And Laney didn’t seem to care one bit her daddy was gone. She was already asking for a new one.

The ending was just crazy. I can’t even get into that.

Anyways, if you are still following and you haven’t read this book, check it out and tell me what your thoughts are.

Review: Tied (Devil’s Wolves #2) by Carian Cole

Genre: Contemporary Romance, New Adult

Published: June 24th 2017

Read: June 27th 2017

Kindle Unlimited: Yes

Goodreads | Amazon

Goodreads Summary: He was the myth and the legend of our small town. But no one knew the truth… except me.

My childhood was stolen by a monster. I’ve forgotten what love feels like. What happiness feels like. What hope feels like. I am numb.

He’s possibly as damaged as I am. Maybe even more. Scarred just as much on the inside as the outside. Just like me. He doesn’t speak. He doesn’t smile. He hides in the woods like an animal. I should be scared of him. But I’m not. He’s the only one that has ever made me feel. And I want to make him feel, too.

My Rating: Through the roof….1000000 stars!

How do you describe the best book ever? Can you? Is it possible to put into words how amazing a book truly is? I am not sure if I can even begin to describe how great Tied is.

Tyler, much like his brother Toren has wounded me. Tyler is very misunderstood by the world. They look at him and see a scarred human being. Everyone in town judges him for his past. The one person who may understand how he feels is Holly Daniels, but she is untouchable.

Holly Daniels was an eight year old little girl on the day her life changed. She was kidnapped. Taken away from her parents and her older brother, never to been seen again. Everything thought she was dead. Ten years pass and the case is cold.

Tyler was walking near his cabin one day when he heard the sound. Eventually he found the source; a debarked dog and a dirty young woman clutching it.

It was little Holly.

Tyler should have been named the town’s hero, but that didn’t happen. He was accused instead.

This is a book I would love to see come to life as a movie! This is one of those books you can’t get off your mind. Just when you think all is said and done. That everything is figured out…curveball. Changes everything!

Read it. You won’t regret it or forget it.

Review: How We Fall by Melissa Toppen

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Published: April 21st 2017

Read: June 26th 2017

Kindle Unlimited: YES

Goodreads | Amazon

Goodreads Summary: It’s not always about how we fall- it’s about where we end up once we land.

I remember the very first time I laid eyes on Cole Lincoln. It still feels like yesterday when he stumbled into my life with his messy brown hair and dark eyes. Even though I was only ten years old at the time, I knew right then and there that he was going to change everything.

From that point on Cole and I were always together—inseparable—and I naively believed we’d be best friends forever. But forever didn’t last nearly as long as I expected.

We grew up and grew apart, life driving the distance between us, but my love for Cole never faltered. Even long after he moved away, leaving me and our little town behind, I still carried a piece of him with me every single day. Because Cole wasn’t just my childhood best friend- the boy who knew me better than anyone else in the whole world. He was also my first love- a part of my very core.

When a tragic death brings us face to face again after six years, every single memory comes rushing to the surface. Only this is not the boy I fell in love with all those years ago. The man before me is hardened, intimidating, and so damn sexy I practically melt when those dark eyes meet mine for the first time in six years.

And like the first time he walked into my life, I know with complete certainty that everything is about to change.

My Rating: 5 Snowboarding stars!

This was my first book by Melissa Toppen, although it was co-wrote with an author I am familiar with, Silla Webb. I can’t say anything bad about this book! It was great.

You have the main character, Melanie Anderson, small town girl with three brothers and then Cole Lincoln. Cole and Melanie meet many years ago when Cole’s family moved into the house next door. Instantly Melanie was head over hills. But it never seems that Cole felt the same way.

Years pass and Cole leaves town, leaving Melanie and everything behind to pursue his dreams in New York City. But when tragedy strikes and their mutual best friend, Michael passes away, it brings the both back together.

Melanie has had a rough life. Her passed away leaving her to step up and take care of her two younger brothers. She finally felt somewhat stable, but the Cole is back and her world is upside down again. Her feelings she thought she had suppressed years ago for Cole comes rolling back.

You all know I love second chance romance, so this one was prefect for me. It is one you can’t miss!
