Goodreads Summary:
My name is Melody Greene, and I have a confession to make.
I slept with my student, a senior in high school.
Multiple times.
I had multiple orgasms.
In multiple positions.
I slept with my student and I enjoyed it.
I slept with my student and I’d do it all over again if I could turn back time.
My name is Melody Greene, and I got kicked out of my position as a teacher and did my walk of shame a la Cersei Lannister from the principal’s office, minutes after said principal threatened to call the cops on me.
My name is Melody Greene, and I did something bad because it made me feel good.
Here is why it was totally worth it.

You all know how I am about forbidden love, so this was right up my alley. I read Vicious first and then this one, but they can be read any order. If you do read Vicious first, you will know how this one ends kinda.

Defy is the story of Jamie Followhill, the son of the school principal and Melody Greene, a 26 year old ex-ballerina who is now a English Lit teacher. She is close to getting fired and ends of hitting the principal’s car. Jamie jumps in and saves the day, making it seem to be his fault.

This romance is raw and intense and the fact that it is forbidden makes it even better. You will forget Jamie is only 19 because he seems so mature.

It is kinda of a small book but don’t let that stop you, it doesn’t seem rushed. With the wonderful writing that is within L.J. Shen books, you will love it! You wont want it to end.

Goodreads Summary: Ainsley came into my life in a flurry of vibrant colors, lighting my world up when all seemed lost.

It wasn’t our quiet nights by the creek or stolen kisses surrounded by a sea of cotton that saved me.

It was her.

She was my comfort when life threw one ugly tragedy after another at me.

Until she dealt me the greatest blow.

Now, abandonment, betrayal, and death darken every corner of my life. Anger and hurt burn bright where love and trust once lived.

But, now, she’s back. Sure, she’s changed, but I see through it—straight to her heart.

My rating: 5 Sunshinin’ Stars!

My Thoughts: This debut novel from Amie Knight was a hit! It was one of those knocked out of the ball park hits.I felt this book in my heart and soul.

I have a soft spot for first love stories. They make such amazing books when a lead character is suddenly reunited with an old flame.

Ainsley and Adrian were best friends. She was the sunshine in his life, according to him atleast. She kept him safe and took care of him all throughout their childhood. Anisley, Adrian and Lori were inseparable. At home, at school.

When they hit their teens, Lori, who was Ainsley’s cousin, started to get herself into trouble.  As that was happening, Ainsley and Adrian were falling in love. But when tragedy strikes, Ainsley’s runs. She leaves behind her mom and Adrian and her best friend Miranda. But when she returns home after four years of college and runs into Adrian again, things get heated.

Like I said….I LOVED this book. It is one of those that stay with you long after you read the last page. Check it out! 16110309_1765595280427918_1804074821974228992_n

Goodreads Summary: How to Hang a Witch

It’s the Salem Witch Trials meets Mean Girls in a debut novel from one of the descendants of Cotton Mather, where the trials of high school start to feel like a modern day witch hunt for a teen with all the wrong connections to Salem’s past.

Salem, Massachusetts is the site of the infamous witch trials and the new home of Samantha Mather. Recently transplanted from New York City, Sam and her stepmother are not exactly welcomed with open arms. Sam is the descendant of Cotton Mather, one of the men responsible for those trials and almost immediately, she becomes the enemy of a group of girls who call themselves The Descendants. And guess who their ancestors were?

If dealing with that weren’t enough, Sam also comes face to face with a real live (well technically dead) ghost. A handsome, angry ghost who wants Sam to stop touching his stuff. But soon Sam discovers she is at the center of a centuries old curse affecting anyone with ties to the trials. Sam must come to terms with the ghost and find a way to work with The Descendants to stop a deadly cycle that has been going on since the first accused witch was hanged. If any town should have learned its lesson, it’s Salem. But history may be about to repeat itself.

My Review: This is another book that I discovered on Facebook and I actually enjoyed this one! There is a little video preview of this book and at first I thought I was a movie because it was so good!

Sam Mather moves to Salem, where her father had grew up. When word gets around in her new school that she is a ‘Mather’, she’s doomed.

You see, she is a descendant of Cotton Mather, who basically caused the Salem Witch Trials. So, everyone hates her, except for Jaxon, who is her new next door neighbor and Elijah Roe, a spirit.

Together they discover that there is a curse hitting the streets and killing all of the descending families that were involved in the Trials so long ago. They must find a way to stop it before it kills everyone in town!

I really enjoyed this book. I don’t have any complaints. It really takes you on a trip and shocks the crap out of you in the end! And what’s great is Adriana Mather, who is the author is really a descendant of Cotton Mather!

Read it! It’s prefect for Halloween!

A Shade of Vampire Book One

A Shade of Vampire By Bella Forrest.

A couple days ago, I ran across this book on my Facebook. I saw it and though, “it’s been a really long time since I have read a vampire book, so why not?”, and I bought the first book.

Sofia Claremont’s seventeenth birthday was not like any normal teenagers birthday. She was walking along the beaches of Cancun alone. Her best friend had totally ditched her and she was so heart broken, even after his attempt to apologize. When out of the dark of night, she is grabbed and whisked away from the beach into The Shade.

She is chosen among four other young girls just like her to be a part of a harem for Derek Novak.

Derek is a Vampire who has been in a deep sleep for I think it was 400 years. The ladies chosen were to be his salves or dinner.

Once he awakens and sees Sofia for the first time he is immediately attracted to her realizes there is something different about her. He takes her as his personal salve and makes her go home with him.

I don’t want to give away to many spoilers, but in the very main beginning, before her abduction, Sofia has a panic attack and we learn she suffers from Anxiety. However, when all of this is going on at the Shade, she seems very calm.

It was confusing for the author to just switch the characters like that. Going from panic attacks at a football game to a strong woman who isn’t even that terrified of a Vampire.

I did go on and read book two. This is a huge series but the story of Sofia and Derek only goes to book seven I believe. But once you finish book two and follow into with three, you start to see how it will unfold.

It’s a lot like Twight and even if you are familiar with The Shadow Hunters, it reminds me of that also.

I am conflicted as to if I should complete at least the seven books about Derek and Sofia or not. I will let you know if I do.

Fall Back Skyward by Autumn Grey

Fall Back Skyward by Autumn Grey

Hi everyone!! Book review time finally! Before we get to that I am going to update you a bit. Last night I had an idea to go video blogs and I fully intended on do so, however, with my shyness and lack of memory on my phone, maybe that’s not a good idea.

Anyways back to the topic at hand here. I just completed Fall Back Skyward by Autumn Grey.It is a contemporary romance novel and according to Amazon is has 422 pages.

It tells the story of Nor and Cole, their past and present. So if you don’t enjoy flash backs, this may not be for you. It also alternates point of views between the two and then you will get a surprise point of view in chapter 52. It’s really strange and I don’t to give it away but it will leave you wondering what the author was thinking.

By reading the synopsis, we learn that Cole and Eleanor (Nor) were in love with each other. Cole was a saving grace for Nor and she was his world, or his “Sun”. However, there was a horrible event that sent Cole away and when he finally gets back to her, he gets there just in time to watch her walk down the aisle to another man, who just so happens to be his very own brother.

Nine years pass and Cole is standing in his apartment with an several envelopes that have the word “URGENT” written in red. And no, this wasn’t an unpaid bills, but what was inside changed his life forever.

I really enjoyed this book. There is a lot of drama going on. There were things that I didn’t enjoy and some things, in my mind were left unfinished at the end. This is a series, so that may be why I felt that. Maybe the loose ends will tie up in the next book.

I give this book 4 out of 5 stars. This is because there was a small typo in chapter 38, also like I mentioned earlier, the very strange point of view change in chapter 52.

This book does contain explicit language and adult situations that include sexual content and mentions of self harm. If you have triggers to self harm, I would avoid the book.

The characters in this book are pretty well-developed. There were things about certain people such as Nor’s mother, that I would have liked to have known more about. I don’t want to give too much away, but once you dive into the book, I feel like you also will have questions.

All in all, I really liked the book. I will most likely continue on with the series just to see how the author is going to work the following books in the series. I think I have an idea as to what will happen, but we will just have to wait and see.

If you want to check it out, you can click the hyperlink above and it will take you to the Amazon page. This book is a part of Kindle Unlimited, so if you are a subscriber to that, this is one you don’t want to miss.

That’s it for now! Until the next book!
